BigM Performance-based outbound

Definition

What performance-based outbound actually means.

Outbound where the provider is paid for an outcome the client can verify, not for activity. The outcome, and how it is verified, is the whole difference between the models.

Updated 2026-10-20 · sources

Performance-based outbound is a B2B lead generation arrangement in which the provider's fee is tied to a verifiable outcome (a qualified lead, a booked or held meeting, or a closed deal) instead of a fixed monthly retainer. The strictest form charges only when a deal closes and the client has been paid.

The five pricing models, with published ranges

ModelYou pay forPublished examplesWhat to check
Monthly retainerActivity, whatever the resultRanked agencies' starting prices from about $2,500 to $30,000 a month (Expandi, Jun 2026); Dubai agencies AED 5,000 to 40,000+ a month, some with 6 to 12 month terms (Salesforge, Jun 2026)Minimum term, what "qualified" means, who does the work after the sale
Pay per leadA contact that matches agreed criteriaMarket rate quoted at $130 to $500 per qualified lead (Upcision, viewed Oct 2026)Whether criteria are signed off before launch; return window for bad leads
Pay per meetingA meeting scheduled, or held$75 to $1,500 per booked appointment (Upcision); "scheduled" counts when on the calendar with a reminder, "held" only when the prospect attends; no-show above 20 to 25% is a warning sign (Cleverly guide)Scheduled versus held; no-show credit policy; who qualifies the meeting
HybridA base fee plus a bonus on meetingsOne published example: $2,000 a month campaign team plus a bonus formula keyed to a held-meeting target, month to month, no refund if zero meetings (CIENCE pricing page, Oct 2026)Whether "held" is defined; what the base buys if meetings are zero
Commission on closed dealsA deal that closed and was paidBigM: $500 setup once, then 20% of the first order from each attributed deal, nothing monthlyThe attribution rule in writing: who counts, which window, who settles disputes

Commission-based agencies are rare in published rankings: a June 2026 list of 13 lead generation agencies contains no purely pay-on-results outbound provider, and every featured agency except one carries a Clutch review footprint (Expandi). The independent guidance for commission models is consistent: how performance is measured, attributed and calculated matters as much as the percentage itself (Retail Insider, September 2026).

What separates a serious performance model from a slogan

  1. The outcome is verifiable by the client. A closed and paid deal is; "a qualified lead" is only as good as the written criteria.
  2. The attribution rule is public and short. Who counts, which window, what is excluded, who settles disagreements. BigM's rule is three sentences, on the attributed deal page.
  3. Messages go out from the client's own accounts with per-message approval. Replies land with the client, and the approval log doubles as the attribution record.
  4. No hidden fees. Data, tools and model calls are inside the fee. If a provider adds "data list" or "strategy" charges, the model is a retainer in disguise.
  5. Exit is free. No notice period; the only thing that survives exit is the fee on conversations that had already started.

Questions

Is pay per meeting the same as performance-based?

It is one form of it. The weak point is the definition of a meeting: a scheduled slot that the prospect skips can still be billed under some contracts. Ask whether you pay for scheduled or held meetings and what the no-show policy is.

Why would a provider accept payment only on closed deals?

Because it can read buying signals well enough to pick companies that are already in a buying cycle, and because it sends from the client's accounts, so the reply rate is the client's reputation, not a rented domain's.

What does BigM charge?

$500 setup once, then 20% of the first order from each attributed deal. Nothing monthly, no seats, stop at any time. Details on the pricing page.
